Three Weeks Into Starting a Business I have Learned…

  1. You don’t need a lot of money to start with.
  2. You learn who supports you and who doesn’t.
  3. There’s plenty of self-doubt but you learn to put it aside.
  4. “Fake it ‘til you make it” is an art.
  5. Waking up motivated and inspired to work is so much different than working at a job you hate.
  6. Accountability starts and ends with me.
  7. More people are willing to help you out than you know.
  8. Your network is pretty much the key to your success.
  9. I should be more social.
  10. Not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur. They still deserve respect.
  11. Stay humble.
  12. Try everything.
  13. SEO is helpful but it’s just another tool in the toolkit.
  14. Go after the big accounts.
  15. Don’t be afraid to be “expensive.” Expensive is a state of mind and it’s a different number for everyone.

So far, I’m having a great time. I’ve gotten run-arounds, rejections, and some delays in several processes. But I have also had the joy of opening my first box of business cards, updating my LinkedIn profile to Owner, landed my first account, and received a wonderful amount of support from my loved ones.
